Lamb is a good alternative protein for dogs with chicken allergies. Choose lean cuts like leg or loin and trim visible fat before cooking. While lamb is fattier than chicken, the fat content is manageable with proper trimming. Cook thoroughly without onion, garlic, or heavy seasonings. Lamb bones — especially cooked ones — should never be given as they splinter dangerously.
